Sunderland News:
Mart Poom is a doubt for Sunderland's game against Cardiff City tomorrow after returning from international duty with a shoulder injury. If Poom fails to recover, Michael Ingham will step forward for his first League start of the campaign and Thomas Myrhe will get a place on the bench. The game will come too soon for Paul Thirlwell, who is nursing a calf injury, and Jason McAteer, Matt Piper and Stephen Wright are out. Alan Quinn will be in Sunderland's squad for the first time.

Cardiff News:
Cardiff City has signed unsettled Palace midfielder Julian Gray on a one-month loan deal. Gray is likely to start on the bench against Sunderland. Midfielder John Robinson is poised to make his Cardiff return at Sunderland after missing the last six games with a leg injury. Danny Gabbidon, Robert Earnshaw, Rhys Weston, Graham Kavanagh, Neil Alexander and Richard Langley emerged unscathed from international duties. Kavanagh, Andy Campbell and Willie Boland will all start suspensions against Coventry on Saturday.

Comments:
After a slow start on the season, Sunderland is really hot at the moment. Seven out of the nine latest matches are won. The 1-0 victory away against Sheffield United last match was impressing. Like West Ham, many of the fans feared that the massive quit on Stadium of Light during the summer months would weaken the team so much they would not have the quality for fight for a direct return to the Premiership. Four out of five matches are won home at Stadium of Light. Only four team has won more points home than Sunderland, two of the teams has played one more match home than the Black Cats.

Cardiff has the opposite development of form. After many great results in the start of the season, no matches are won since the 5-0 victory home against Gillingham on 13th of September. The key for Sunderland will be to stop Robert Earnshaw. Earnshaw has scored 14 out of Cardiff’s 24 goals this season.
